ACTION ALERT UPDATE: Good news! On Sept. 26, 2012 Gov. Jerry Brown signed SB 1221 into law making California the 15th state to prohibit the hounding of bears and the 14th state to ban the hounding of bobcats! Unfortunately Brown vetoed SB 1480. Thanks to all who took action on these two bills.

Both of these critical wildlife bills have passed the California Senate and Assembly and are now on Governor Jerry Brown's desk. Please help make these bills become law by asking Brown to sign these bills today.

Introduced by Senator Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) SB 1221 will prohibit the unsporting and unethical practice of pursuing and hunting bears and bobcats with hounds.

Introduced by Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro) SB 1480 - the Consumer and Wildlife Protection Act-  will protect wildlife from unnecessary death and cruelty and protect homeowners from being misled and ripped off by for-profit trappers.
